Job Description


The Sr. Software Engineer is a member of Satellogic’s Mission & Operations group. This group performs the launch campaigns of our satellites, tasks and operates them in orbit, ensuring correct planning and data connectivity with the ground, and outputs raw (L0) imagery data for data processing.


The Tasking Team within Mission & Operations is accountable for creating and distributing operational plans for the satellites, based on user requests. These plans include both imagery capture and data connectivity activities


As a member of the Tasking team, you will be working on a wide range of technical issues, and contributing to solutions of complex problems. You must love programming, have proven software development experience and see coding as a key means to validate your ideas. 


Responsibilities


  • Design, develop and support the external APIs for tasking and using our satellite constellation.
  • Design, develop and support the software that processes constellation user requests. Create optimal tasking plans and distribute them to the different end-points of the system.
  • Design, develop and support the internal APIs that internal groups use to perform testing, maintenance and research on the in-orbit satellites.
  • Work side-by-side with the operators to provide fast, reliable and robust solutions to operational problems.
  • Identify and suggest opportunities to improve efficiency and functionality.


Location: Remote work from anywhere between UTC-5 and UTC+3 time zones. Office locations include Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Barcelona, Tel Aviv.


What we value 


  • 4+ Years of experience in software engineering skills in Python/Django.
  • 2+ Years of experience working with distributed version control (preferably GIT).
  • Familiarity with agile best practices.
  • Ability to function independently and in a team environment.
  • Being detail oriented.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Experience with production infrastructure, *nix.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Experience with working with containers, infrastructure as code and cloud providers (Azure, AWS).
  • Participation in communities such as PyCons, PyDays, meetups, or similar.
